IRPLAST AT DRINKTEC: INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABILITY

FROM 15th to 19th SEPTEMBER IN MUNICH

Hall  C2 – Booth 168

SHOWCASING NEW RECYCLABLE MONO-MATERIAL MULTILAYER FILMS AND THINNER HANDLES FOR MULTIPACK SOLUTIONS

Empoli, September 25th, 2025 – IRPLAST, an Italian company and part of the TOPPAN Group, will be exhibiting at DRINKTEC (Hall C2, Booth 168), the world’s leading trade fair for beverage and liquid food technology, taking place in Munich, Germany from September 15th to 19th.

At the forefront of the showcase will be the new ergonomic handles for water and soft drink multipacks, designed with a 20% reduced thickness compared to current market standards. These mono-material, fully recyclable handles are reinforced with nonwoven fabric, significantly improving comfort and ease of transport.

Another highlight will be the innovative pre-glued wrap-around labels, which are 100% recyclable and suitable for all wrap-around applications. By using easily separable and recyclable materials, IRPLAST has succeeded in reducing label weight by up to 46%, strengthening its commitment to environmental sustainability. These films ensure labels remain highly durable and legible, supporting both consumer transparency and product protection.

IRPLAST will also present its multipack bundle solutions, which allow the grouping of different container types – from PET bottles to cartons – with up to 75% less plastic material and three times less volume compared to traditional shrink-wrap solutions.

Sustainability has always been central to IRPLAST’s business model, driving the reduction of film thickness, the use of raw materials from chemical recycling and renewable sources, and the recovery of production scraps to be reused in new cycles. These efforts have led to the development of recyclable mono-material multilayer films, ideal to replace multi-material structures, and fully compliant with the upcoming EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

These innovative films match the technical-mechanical performance of virgin-based products, ensuring the same high-quality results for adhesive tapes and packaging applications, while significantly reducing CO₂ emissions. In 2019, IRPLAST became the first company in Europe in the food packaging sector to launch ISCC PLUS certified films made from both renewable and chemically recycled post-consumer feedstocks, ensuring food contact compliance and equivalent technical performance to virgin-based films.
