IRPLAST and TOPPAN to Present Joint Circular Value Chain Strategy at AMI BIAX 2026 in Vienna

Advancing mono-material high-performance flexible packaging through technology, chemical recycling, and global integration

Vienna, March 2026 – Naomi Lunadei, Chief Sustainability Officer at IRPLAST, and Laura Buen Abbad, Vice President Technology & Marketing at TOPPAN Packaging Americas, will jointly present at AMI BIAX 2026, taking place in Vienna from 3 to 5 March.

During the conference, IRPLAST and TOPPAN will outline their shared strategic vision aimed at strengthening a circular and fully integrated global value chain in flexible packaging. The presentation will explore how technological innovation, mono-material design, and advanced barrier solutions are enabling packaging structures that combine recyclability with high shelf-life performance and product safety.

As part of its long-term sustainability roadmap, the TOPPAN Group has strategically expanded its presence across the packaging value chain through investments in companies such as IRPLAST and SONOCO TFP. This integrated approach enhances capabilities from advanced film manufacturing to high-performance package production, supporting the development of recyclable and resource-efficient solutions for global markets.

With the gradual implementation of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), packaging producers are required to increase recycled content and design solutions compatible with circular economy principles. IRPLAST, ISCC+ certified since 2019, has progressively developed solutions aligned with evolving regulatory requirements, focusing on mono-material structures and mass-balance certified raw materials.

Chemical recycling will also be addressed as a complementary technology to mechanical recycling, contributing to the availability of recycled feedstock necessary to meet future sustainability targets. Through joint technological expertise and global coordination, TOPPAN and IRPLAST are working to bridge performance and circularity in demanding FMCG applications.

AMI BIAX 2026 represents an important platform to showcase how international collaboration and technological investment are shaping the next generation of sustainable flexible packaging.
