Empoli, June 5th – The closing of the transaction between TOPPAN Group in Japan — through its Indian subsidiary TOPPAN Speciality Films — and IRPLAST S.p.A. was successfully finalized this morning at IRPLAST’s headquarters in Empoli. The operation entails the acquisition of 80% of IRPLAST’s share capital. The remaining 20% will be retained by the current Management, represented by Chief Executive Officer Fausto Cosi and Chief Operating Officer Luca de Bartolo.
The ceremony was attended by top executives of the TOPPAN Group: Satoshi Oya, President of TOPPAN Inc.; Manohara Kumar, CEO of TOPPAN Speciality Films; Masahiko Tatewaki, Head of Global Packaging Operations at TOPPAN Inc. and President & CEO of TOPPAN Specialty Films USA; and Hiroshi Suzuki, Managing Executive Officer with responsibility for R&D Strategy and Global Operations in TOPPAN Inc.’s Living & Industry Division.
Institutional representatives in attendance included: the Mayor of Empoli, Alessio Mantellassi; Member of Parliament, Federico Gianassi; Senator, Dario Parrini; Barbara Antonini, Coordinator of the Empolese-Valdelsa territorial office; and Giuseppe Dentato from the CGIL trade union.

The acquisition is part of TOPPAN Group’s global expansion strategy, further strengthening its presence in the European market and broadening the range of solutions offered to international clients. IRPLAST is a globally recognized leader in the production of specialty films, printed labels, and adhesive tapes. The company has launched a major industrial development plan aimed at tripling its production capacity, supported by the installation of a new Brückner Maschinenbau – LISIM line. This investment will enable the production of 30,000 tons of specialty films designed for recyclable monomaterial multilayer structures, in line with the new European directives (PPWR) and based on raw materials from renewable sources and chemical recycling.
