IRPLAST STRENGTHENS ITS ESG JOURNEY WITH THE 2025 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT
Sixth edition of the Report: first Scope 3 emissions reporting, greenhouse-gas emissions down 28.8%, an SBTi target of a 42% reduction by 2030 and international ESG recognitions, in the year Irplast joined the TOPPAN Group.
Empoli 8th July 2026 – IRPLAST presents the sixth edition of its Sustainability Report, illustrating the Company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance in 2025 and its goals for a more sustainable value chain. A year in which the Company continued its international growth in the packaging industry, maintaining a constant commitment to ethical, responsible and sustainable development.
“The sixth edition of our Sustainability Report is not just an account of our progress, but a statement of our commitment to driving change in the packaging industry”, said Fausto Cosi, CEO of IRPLAST. “We are making our plants ever more efficient and our products ever better suited to environmental challenges. We work closely with customers, supply-chain partners and all our stakeholders, in the conviction that innovation and collaboration are the key to accelerating the transition towards an increasingly circular and sustainable economy”.
On the reporting front, for the second consecutive year the Company conducted and approved its double materiality assessment — evaluating ESG topics from both an impact and a financial-relevance perspective, in line with the ESRS standards — from which derives the ESG strategy that will guide the Group’s actions and investments in the coming years, coordinated by the Chief Sustainability Officer and the dedicated sustainability team.
Key results in 2025
- Industrial growth. Installation continues of the new Brückner Maschinenbau production line featuring LISIM technology at the Atessa plant: a strategic investment of approximately €60 million, to be completed during 2026 with a progressive ramp-up. The new line will deliver a significant increase in production capacity and enable high-performance films designed around mono-material principles and ready to be recycled, in line with regulatory and market developments, starting with the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
- Climate and transparency. First Scope 3 reporting, with 131,790 tonnes of CO₂eq mapped along the entire value chain. Thanks to the purchase of electricity fully certified as renewable through Guarantees of Origin — covering 100% of the Company’s grid needs and bringing renewables to 28% of total energy consumption — greenhouse-gas emissions fell by 28.8% versus 2024, according to the calculation method that accounts for the renewable energy actually purchased (market-based). As part of its adherence to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), Irplast has also committed to reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2020 base year, and to measuring and reducing its Scope 3 emissions.
- Sustainable materials. Development continues on mono-material solutions and lower-impact product lines: ECO+ (film containing internally regranulated material), LOOPP from the chemical recycling of post-consumer plastic and NOPP from renewable sources (tall oil, UCO) — ISCC PLUS-certified and delivering the same performance as traditional BOPP film. In 2025, NOPP film production avoided 582 tonnes of CO₂eq, with a further 194 tonnes saved through Biocircular raw material and adhesive.
- Ratings and recognitions. A “B” rating in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP); the EcoVadis “Silver” medal, placing Irplast in the Top 15% of companies assessed globally; the “Company of the Year” award for Integrated ESG Finance at the Sustainability Award, with inclusion — for the fourth consecutive year — in the Top 75 ESG Integrated Finance, Top 100 ESG Excellence and Top 75 ESG Performances rankings; and the “InnovAzioni 2025” Special Award from Confindustria Abruzzo Medio Adriatico. Fausto Cosi was also named by Forbes Italia among the 100 Top Managers of 2025.
- People and communities. Support continues for the social and educational initiatives of the Fondazione Carta Etica del Packaging: through “Ripartiamo dal Packaging” and “Packaging: che fantastica avventura”, IRPLAST promotes inclusion, training and a culture of responsible packaging among younger generations.
