From May 12th to 14th in Richmond, Virginia – USA.
BIMO brings innovative BOPP films for the tobacco industry to America. BIMO explores for new opportunities in the tobacco industry in north and south America.
Bimo – the BOPP divison of Irplast – is participating in World Tobacco NORTH AMERICA 2015, the new convention which reunites for the first time the major players of the tobacco industry in America. Many of the top international players are already Bimo customers in the European market.
29th April 2015 – Bimo the BOPP division of Irplast, one of the leading players in the cigarette wrapping sector in Europe, will be exhibiting on Stand B25 – at World Tobacco North America 2015, the convention and exhibition dedicated to technology and packaging for the tobacco industry in North America, which is scheduled to take place in Richmond, Virginia, from the 12th to the 14th of May, where the film producer intends to demonstrate to new potential customers the strength and versatility of its portfolio of dedicated wrapping films.
An Italy-based producer of specialist films in biaxially oriented polypropylene, BIMO currently supplies all the top international cigarette manufacturers in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, and thanks to over 15 years of experience with the world’s top brand owners, plans are now in place to extend its customer base to North and South American producers in the same category.
BIMO operates in an integrated business model in the Irplast group which starts with the extrusion of BOPP films and continues with the printing and converting of finished products like labels, printed pack wraps and adhesive tapes. This integrated model offers huge benefits to customers in terms of rapid and targeted product development, thanks to the possibility to quickly test developments as finished products as they evolve in a completely controlled production cycle.
BIMO offers a wide range of BOPP films in thicknesses from 14 to 70 micron all specially designed for the advanced industrial applications they serve. Three extrusion and stretching lines are used – two of them with Tenter Sequential Stretching, and a third line using the innovative and flexible LISIM simultaneous orientation technology known as SOL, which allows frictionless film production with variable MD/TD stretching ratios, ideal for the production of special shrinkable films specifically designed for high performance wrapping lines like those used in the cigarette industry. The Tobacco Business Unit, inaugurated in 2002, is the specialist BU which manages the design, commercialization and production of the whole range of films dedicated to cigarette wrapping, based on the technical advantages offered by development with SOL technology, such as optical properties, shrinkage properties, and exceptional mechanical properties which deliver improvements in customer productivity and product appearance, even with cost-saving thicknesses as low as 16 micron. These products offer controlled and balanced shrinkage ratios, reliable low coefficient of friction, predictable sealing strengths, and wonderful transparency and gloss. The continuous development work over the past decade has built up a valuable knowledge base in BIMO which now offers films for all production circumstances, be they latest generation high speed packers or revamped older generation machines with or without single pack shrink tunnels, allowing the supplier to tailor his offering for each particular factory or wrapping line. The package is completed by bespoke and fast R&D on demand involving raw material suppliers and research laboratories, and an expert team of applications technicians dedicated to sharing knowledge and best practice on all types of production lines in the customers’ factories.
